Extension of Self Certification Period for Sickness Absence

If an employee goes off sick on or after 10 December 2021, up to and including 26 January 2022, you cannot ask them for proof of sickness until they have been off for 28 days or more.

It is believed that the self-certification period has been increased from 7 to 28 days, for this period, to alleviate the burdens placed upon GPs due to coronavirus and the busy winter period
